How to sign up for an Xbox Live account online

First you will need to create a free windows live id account.  In order to do that, you can go to the account dot live dot com website.  Once there, click on the sign up button at the bottom left and proceed to put in all of your personal credentials.  Verify all of your personal information and now you have a free windows live id account.  You will also be given the option of setting up a secret question for your windows live account. We definitely recommend setting this up as it adds a little security to your account.

Once you sign up for a free windows live membership, you can then recover the account on your xbox gaming console.  Turn on your xbox gaming console and proceed to the dashboard.  Go to my xbox and proceed to go into the account profile.  You are given the option to sign in or recover gamer tag.  Choose “recover gamer tag”.  Now you will need to enter the windows live id email you have set up on the windows live website.  It will also ask for a password to the account.  Once signed in, you are now a free member of the xbox live network.  You can even preview some free hd movies online with the xbox live account access.  Just go into the video marketplace section of your dashboard and you will see all of the video features that are available to you.  As a new member to your xbox console and xbox live, you will also get a one month free trial to some of the video programs on the xbox console.  So you can watch some free movies online for a month as well.
