How To Clean Uggs with Your Own Cleaner

June 27, 2011 – Ugg boots and slippers have practically become necessities. People from all genders and ages have made ugg boots a part of their everyday life. People love the comfort that they provideĀ  as well as its added aesthetic value. After purchasing your favorite ugg footwear it will not be a surprise that they can be dirty, and stained after some period of time. While most of the latest designs of these boots come with an ugg cleaner, yours can be empty or you don’t have money to buy a new one. You don’t have to worry though since there are actually a lot of alternatives that you can find and use at home.

Below are some simple steps on how to clean uggs at home if you do not have the official ugg cleaner nearby.

1. Suede Brush – suede brush is a must in getting started with your Uggs. Buy one, if you do not own one yet. You do not want to compromise your uggs with inappropriate brush. Brushing it initially will help you remove some dried dirt, or stain and dust as well. You have to keep in mind though that you should only brush in one direction. After this step, get a new sponge, dampen it with distilled water and lightly dab the entire outer surface of your footwear.

2. Cleaner – your homemade ugg cleaner will be made out of a mixture of one part white vinegar and one part distilled water. With the use of your sponge that has been dipped in your mixture, gently scrub your footwear in a circular motion.

3. Rinse – After scrubbing off the majority of the stains and dirt, you can rinse your boots using the same procedure as the last step. This time use only plain distilled water. Refresh your sponge frequently so you are actually removing both the cleaner and any dirt residue.

4. Dry – This is critical. You do not want to dry your uggs improperly because this will either ruin their shape, fade their color or shrink them. You should dry them away from direct heat, and stuff some old newspapers inside them so they will be able to retain their shape.

5. Deodorize – is probably just a treat to your uggs and your feet. When your uggs are completely dry, try to sprinkle some mixture of teaspoons baking soda and two teaspoons corn starch. Leave them there overnight, shake it out the next morning and you are done with the last step on how to clean uggs with your very own homemade ugg cleaner.
