3 Tips For Creative Photo Album Names

June 12, 2011 – Creative photo album names should be added to every album, but are often overlooked. This is unfortunate because the name sets the tone for the entire album. Think about all the time you spent on the album, doesn’t it deserve a creative name? Otherwise you are starting the project off with a fizzle instead of a bang. Here are my top three tips for coming up with a creative name:

Use a well known phrase in your name. Is it a photo album from your vacation? Yes? Okay, where did you go? Some destinations have phrases that are synonymous with them. Use all or part of that phrase in your album name.

Don’t just use the date the pictures were taken. Instead use the time of year or event the photos are from. If you are still having a hard time naming the photos, then try something that describes the type of photos used or the appropriate mood. For example, “Our Silly Times in the Snow” is more creative than naming it “December 2011.” If you must include the date, then try to make it a sub-heading or include it on the first section.

Think about the photos in question before naming the album. Are these pictures from one specific event or time? Or instead, do they represent a grouping of multiple years and/or events? Maybe all of those photos are from the year your daughter was obsessed with a specific cartoon character or animal, and every photo she is in has that character with her? Find a creative way to use that character’s name in the title.

Photo album names don’t have to be boring. It just takes a couple of minutes to give your album some attitude. Next time you name an album, consider using one of my top three tips!
